The 525bhp Mercedes E63 AMG has been revealed ahead of the New York Motor Show
So this is the Mercedes Benz E63 AMG, finally shown in all its glory after a serious of teases in the run-up to the official unveiling next week at the New York Motor Show. But make the most of it. The way the world is moving at the moment the next generation E63 AMG will probably have solar panels, an elastic band and a windmill on its roof!
The BMW Concept Active Tourer will arrive as the BMW 2 Series GT
BMW’s new platform for the new MINI isn’t just about providing a front wheel drive platform for MINI, but it will also be put to use in a new range of BMW FWD vehicles. That was previewed by the BMW Active Tourer Concept at the Paris Motor Show in 2012 (and again with the Active Tourer Outdoor Concept in the summer) and now the Active Tourer is heading in to production as the BMW 2 Series GT. The new 2 Series GT is the BMW answer to the Mercedes B Class, a compact MPV designed for moving people and their stuff around town, and Auto Express have learnt it will arrive at a Motor Show ‘Early in 2014′ (which we assume will be Geneva in March) as a production model ahead of a launch later in 2014.
Volkswagen has announced the VW Touareg BlueMotion for the UK
Offering improved economy and lower emissions, the Touareg BlueMotion manages to drop in to a lower Co2 band by emitting 219g/km (a reduction from 244g/km on the V6 TDi) and it delivers 34mpg as opposed to 30.4mpg on the V7 TDi. These improvements have been achieved by the usual ECU tweaking, low rolling resistance tyres, some aerodynamic tweaks and a lower ride height (exactly the same sort of stuff that Ford has done on the EConetic range). And the penalty for the lower emissions and better economy is very slight, with the Touareg BlueMotion still managing the 0-60mph in 8.5 seconds and a top speed of 126mph.
